Somewhere else...

This scene was on the front lawn of Deepwells Mansion. It was a beautiful sunny day and I was helping out in the filming of a music video for Barnaby Bright. Audrey was nice enough to come by and sit for this. Unfortunately, that glorious 100-year old tree she is sitting against is no longer there - a victim of Hurricane Sandy. Glad I was able to capture it here. "Somewhere Else" 24" x 36", Oil on canvas.

The longest day, the shortest night.

Here's a portrait of my friends Nathan and Becky Bliss (aka Barnaby Bright). They posed for me in between takes of their "Old Coats" music video - which was being filmed at the historic Deepwells Mansion in Saint James. Because their band is named after the summer solstice (ie: the longest day, the shortest night), we loved the fact that Nathan was in the "night" and Becky was in the "day". "Night and Day" 24" x 24", Oil on canvas.

Mister Jessie

After years of our three kids begging for a dog, we finally caved when our youngest, James, complained of needing a companion because his two sisters had left for college. He's quite the character - the dog that is. :) Who's a good boy!!

Autumn Lake House

I painted this for my daughter Sam's birthday at her request. It was the first painting I had completed in over 15 years. As you can imagine, I was a bit nervous about putting brush to canvas after such a long hiatus. But I have to say, except for a few frustrating moments, it all seemed to come back to me. What a gift to become immersed in the process of painting again. Thanks for that Sam.

NYC Fire Hydrants

Before I got married, I lived in New York City for a while. Of the many things I loved about NYC, there was plenty of subject matter to paint. I remember walking down 25th Street one day and there were these three fire hydrants just standing there - like they were waiting for a bus or something. I found that amusing and decided to paint their portrait.
